Constraints in, manufacturable board out

Manual routing hides half the design intent in the layout engineer's head. IntelCAD forces that intent into an explicit constraint set, then routes against it — so every rule is written down once and re-applied on every iteration.

Where it fits

IntelCAD suits product teams who know their schematic and mechanical envelope but do not have a senior layout engineer on staff — flight controllers, sensor boards, power modules, and industrial control boards in the 2 to 8 layer range.

Why the traditional route is slow

A board layout traditionally moves from the hardware lead, to a PCB specialist, to a junior drafter pushing traces in Altium. Each spec change re-enters at the top and walks back down. IntelCAD keeps the constraint set as the single source of truth, so a spec change is a re-run, not a re-do.

Real use case

Drone startup needs a custom flight controller board

A drone startup knows its inputs (IMU, GPS, four ESC PWM channels, telemetry radio) and its outputs (motor commands, logging). What it does not know is how to lay out a four-layer board that survives vibration and EMI. Traditionally that is months in Altium with a senior PCB engineer. With IntelCAD, the team feeds the I/O contract and the mechanical envelope and receives a manufacturable Gerber and BOM ready for the fab.

Common questions

How is this different from an autorouter in Altium or KiCad?

A classical autorouter optimises trace paths inside a layout you already created. IntelCAD works from the constraint set upward — placement, layer strategy, and routing together — and treats impedance, EMI, and mechanical rules as first-class inputs.

What do I need to provide?

A schematic or netlist, the board outline and stack-up, net classes with width and clearance rules, and any fixed connector or mounting positions. Our constraints guide walks through the full list.

Can I take the output into my own tool?

Yes. Output is standard Gerber, drill, and BOM data, so the board can be reviewed and edited in your existing EDA tool before it goes to the fab.
